Hutano Produce is an emerging, dynamic, and ethically-driven women-owned enterprise dedicated to empowering African-led small and medium businesses in the agricultural sector. Their mission aligns with sustainable development goals and promotes economic growth through agricultural innovation.
Project Description:
Conté Africa was commissioned to develop a comprehensive brand identity for Hutano Produce, a new women-owned enterprise supporting African-led small and medium businesses in the agricultural sector. Our challenge was to create a brand that would resonate with their target audience, reflect their African roots, and position them as a forward-thinking player in the agricultural ecosystem.
Key Strategies:
- Brand Discovery and Positioning: We conducted in-depth strategy sessions with the Hutano team to uncover their core values, mission, and unique market position, developing a brand strategy that highlights Hutano’s role in supporting African-led SMEs and promoting sustainable agriculture.
- Visual Identity Creation: Our team crafted a distinctive logo drawing inspiration from African patterns and symbols, ensuring cultural relevance and modern appeal. We developed a comprehensive corporate identity system, including colour palette, typography, and graphic elements that reflect Hutano’s energy and ethical stance.
- Brand Narrative Development: We created a compelling brand story that communicates Hutano’s commitment to empowering women in agriculture and supporting local enterprises, developing key messaging frameworks to ensure consistent communication across various platforms.
- Merchandise Design: We conceptualized and designed a range of branded merchandise for an upcoming workshop, focusing on items that the team could wear to promote brand visibility. This included creating versatile t-shirt designs that effectively communicated the Hutano brand through the strategic use of colour and typography.
- Brand Guidelines: We developed comprehensive brand guidelines to ensure consistent application of the new identity across all touchpoints, including guidance on brand voice, visual elements, and application examples to facilitate easy adoption by the Hutano team.
Through this project, Conté Africa demonstrated its expertise in creating comprehensive branding solutions for start-ups, particularly those with a focus on social impact and economic development in Africa. The result was a cohesive, culturally rich brand identity that positions Hutano Produce as a key player in supporting African agricultural enterprises, effectively communicating their values of empowerment, sustainability, and innovation.
