Osisa Investigative Report

Overview:

OSISA is a growing African institution working to deepen democracy, protect human rights and improve good governance in the region. Conté Africa has been a partner of OSISA for 4 years, collaborating on website redesign, branding, and strategy for their events and event materials.

Project Description:

Conté Africa was commissioned to develop a comprehensive visual identity and communication strategy for OSISA’s “Southern Africa’s Debt Conundrum” conference. Our task was to create compelling materials that would effectively communicate complex economic issues while promoting transparent and responsible financial practices across African states.

Key Strategies:

  1. Visual Storytelling: We designed a striking book cover that symbolically represents the debt challenges facing Southern Africa. The cover features a cityscape silhouette juxtaposed with human figures, visually connecting urban development with individual struggles, all rendered in a sophisticated colour palette of blues and greys.
  2. Content Design and Layout: Our team developed a clean, reader-friendly internal layout for the conference materials. We incorporated data visualizations, infographics, and strategically placed images to break down complex economic information into digestible formats.
  3. Brand Consistency: We ensured that all materials aligned with OSISA’s existing brand guidelines while introducing fresh design elements specific to the conference theme. This included using OSISA’s logo on the back cover, and maintaining brand recognition.
  4. Accessibility and Engagement: We crafted the content and design to appeal to a diverse audience, including policymakers, civil society members, and economic experts. The use of clear typography and well-structured layouts enhances readability and information retention.
  5. Multichannel Approach: While focusing on the print publication, we developed a design system that could be adapted for digital platforms, ensuring consistency across all conference touchpoints.

Through this project, Conté Africa demonstrated its ability to translate complex socio-economic issues into visually compelling and informative materials. The result was a conference publication that not only effectively communicated the challenges of Southern Africa’s debt but also positioned OSISA as a thought leader in promoting transparent and responsible financial practices across the continent. This work further solidified our long-standing partnership with OSISA, showcasing our expertise in creating impactful communications for critical social and economic issues.
